me

Among the many great thoughts in Gail Miller's new book is this quote that really resonated with me:

"God doesn't want his sons and daughters trying to wedge into someone else's place.  We need to find our own, the best way we can do that is by staying faithful, by being ourselves."
-Gail Miller

(If you are reading the book Courage to be You, it's on page 15.)

"Simple living is about living your life with a purpose that aligns with your values.  It's about enjoying the things you love and care about and not about stressing over the things that don't matter."

I really like this quote about simplicity that I read in a book by Tsh Oxenreider called Organized Simplicity.

. . . a happy feeling!

I don't know why . . . but organizing a closet makes me feel so happy!

"The sun will come out tomorrow . . . "

During those gray winter days I remind myself
that the sun will come out tomorrow,
 and tomorrow is here!
I love signs of spring and the warm sun.

autumn

"A picture is worth a thousand words" but even so this picture can't capture the real beauty of fall.  Partly because its not a high quality photo, but mainly because a picture just isn't capable of capturing the real thing.

On our short little hike the trees were mostly still green but all these colorful leaves on the ground give you the idea that autumn is here.  I love all the colors and shades of fall and the brightness of the light and the feel of fall in the air.

wild blackberries !!!

One thing I loved on our trip to Oregon was the wild blackberries that grew everywhere.  We were there in blackberry season.  What a treat!!!

We picked them whenever and wherever:  at a place where we pulled off the freeway, next to the parking lot at one of the hotels where we stayed, near the International Rose Garden.
The blacker the better. Heavenly!

We foraged enough to make a cobbler when we got home.

A bit of heaven in the backyard.

Sometimes I roll my eyes at the time and energy my husband puts into our garden and trees, and the things that are planted in our backyard. But when we harvest good things, the backyard is a piece of heaven and it all seems worth it.

This year we had peaches to eat and for jam.
